Stand With Nigeria
Entire Nigerian populations are facing violence and terrorism due to a long-standing, ethno-religious conflict fueled by complacency and injustice within their political and governing systems. These fault lines, coupled with a lack of international recognition and intervention, threaten not only the stability of one of Africa’s cornerstone nations, it has disastrous consequences for the U.S. and international community.
The mission of the International Committee on Nigeria (ICON) is to create a community where rule of law guides every facet of societal interactions in Nigeria. ICON promotes human dignity, the right to live, religious freedom, and the protection of the vulnerable against all forms of persecution.
Northern Nigeria is experiencing a deepening humanitarian crisis. Terrorism fueled by Fulani militants and Boko Haram have forced hundreds of thousands of Nigerians to flee their homes. These families face serious issues accessing food, water, shelter, and other basic human needs. Nigerians across the country face terrorism, religious persecution, and human rights violations on a daily basis. It’s time to educate the public on these issues and send help where it is so desperately needed.

Calling for a Special Envoy
As Africa’s most populous nation and largest economy, Nigeria is crucial to the stability of Western Africa, Europe, and the United States. Rising violence and terrorism committed by Boko Haram and Fulani militants throughout the country threatens this stability and the lives of thousands. ICON stands for freedom of religion and the eradication of terrorism and is calling the United States to appoint a Special Envoy to address the atrocities in Nigeria and prevent a global humanitarian crisis.
Your Support is Crucial
ICON focuses on two key outcomes:
- Leverage the power of the United States government and a special envoy to coordinate an effective response to the crisis in Nigeria
- Eradicate the increasing violence that jeopardizes the stability of Nigeria, Europe, and the United States.
ICON seeks to raise awareness around the major issues threatening the stability and safety of Nigeria’s people, provide solutions for the peace and restoration of Nigeria, and to hold their government accountable for inadequate or unjust actions.

Leah Sharibu remains in captivity. Since February 19th, when she was abducted by Boko Haram – specifically ISIS West Africa – until today she remains a heartache for Leah’s parents and a problem for President Buhari.
